Developing countries concentrate on improving industrial skills or education

Developing countries need to adopt and adapt strategies very often in their path to development because such countries face many shortages including that of money, skilled laborers, resources, and infrastructure. In my opinion, equal stress should be given to promoting education and developing industrial skills.

First of all, general education is very necessary for the overall development of a nation. There are certain spheres in which every individual must have basic knowledge. They include mathematics, basic idea about the politics and public administration, basic health and hygiene rules and so on. Proper social, physical and economical growth requires a basic knowledge of these fields. For example, to elect a government that can effectively serve the nation, one should have an idea about the country, its resources, and policies of different political parties. Also, for a person, basic knowledge about health and hygiene is very vital as lack of it can lead to health problems. There is no dispute over the fact that healthy citizens are a must for proper development of a nation.

However, neglecting industrial skills will have an adverse impact on the development of a nation. Industries are the only way to swift economic growth. So, by giving stress on improving industrial skills, availability of skilled workers can be ensured for the industry. This will undoubtedly lead to faster and more efficient economic growth. Also, an education system without adequate stress on industrial skills will be a waste of public money as such an education can do little for the improvement of the nation.

To sum up, education and industrial skills are the two sides of the same coin. Both are required for the development of a nation. What is needed is an education with emphasis on developing industrial skills.
