Governments should promote alternative sources of energy

It is a well-known fact that carbon-based energy sources are the major reason behind global warming. So, the urge to find alternative sources are energy, which is not carbon-based is unquestionably substantiated.

Presently, there are too few initiatives undertaken by governments to promote the use of other sources of energy. To illustrate, it has been proved scientifically that sources like wind, wave, and sunlight can be used as inexhaustible and non-polluting energy sources. However, governments are not sufficiently concerned about this area.

Evidently, governments at present are too reliant on fossil fuels like coal, oil, and gas. The effects of this practice on the environment are plenty. First of all, these fuels are irreplaceable and hence, will soon be dried up. In addition, their buying causes pollution of the worst kind. It leads to impure air, warmer atmosphere and many diseases.

It is a well-known fact that energy from wind, sea and the sun does not pollute the environment and is an everlasting source of power. Although nuclear power is not totally unproblematic, it is clean and provides a large amount of energy and dramatically improves the environment.

In my opinion, though a large number of alternative energy sources are identified, little is being done to promote their use. The first step towards promoting their use is to educate people about the ill efforts of fossil fuels and the benefits of shifting to alternative sources. In addition, those who wish to adopt alternative sources should be given financial and technical assistance.

In conclusion, as the old dictum goes, a stitch in time saves nine. If governments continue with their lukewarm attitude toward this issue, there will be the irresponsible impact on nature.
