Countries With Long Working Hours IELTS Essay

It is an undeniable fact that the harder one works, the better the result will be. Therefore, a country where people work for long hours will have better growth. However, I agree with the statement that despite the immediate economic success, a large number of social problems will also take birth if working hours are long.

An easily noticeable consequence is the increasing rate of delinquency in children. When parents stay away on work for a long time, children are deprived of the much-needed care and affection from parents. Without proper care and attention, they lack essential social skills and develop bad habits which inevitably lead to social problems.

Another unavoidable consequence is the increasing presence of modern-day diseases. Some such diseases are variation in blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol, and various cancers. As people work for long hours, they are forced to adopt an unhealthy lifestyle, the result of which is such ailments. To illustrate, they may not be able to devote enough time to exercise. They may also be forced to have ready-to-eat packaged food and convenience snacks.

In addition, long working hours create tension and frustration in people. Lack of free time and relaxation will lead to stress-related problems and poor social and family relations.
