The poster has raised the intrigue quotient among cine-goers. This forced movie buffs to reschedule their Durga plans. Such is the response that it has even set the industry into a tizzy with Prosenjit Chatterjee and other big names going gaga over it. Ek Je Chhilo Raja is directed by Srijit Mukherji under the banner of SVF Entertainment Pvt Ltd starring Jisshu Sengupta, Anirban Bhattacharya, Anjan Dutt, Jaya Ahsan, Rudranil Ghosh and Sreenanda Shankar. Music is composed by Indraadip Dasgupta and edited by Pronoy Dasgupta. The movie is a period drama based on “A Princely Imposter” by Partha Chatterjee. It draws inspiration from the famous 1975 ‘Bhawal Sanyasi’ court case.

The plot of the movie is based on the well-known Bhawal case, an extended Indian court case about a possible impostor who claimed to be the prince of Bhawal, who was presumed dead a decade earlier. Sanyasi Raja (1975), starring Uttam Kumar, was based on the same court case.
