Young people in the modern world seem to have more power IELTS Essay
The nature of young people has made a sea change in the past few decades. The naive and vulnerable youngsters of the past have become more powerful and self-dependent these days much to the chagrin of the old ones.
The main reason that led to this change is the explosive growth in communication. These days, almost every youngster has access to mobile phones, internet, computer and television. Thus, they acquire a lot of knowledge about the world at an early age. Furthermore, the availability of education and job opportunities has made them independent; both financially and intellectually. While it was uncommon for the youngsters in the past to stay away from home for study or job, these days it has become a necessary part of every young one’s life.
However, it is observed that the youngsters today are criticized on the ground that they are being more and more lazy and disrespectful. However, a close examination would reveal that this allegation holds no water. In the past, youngsters used to be totally dependent on the old ones well into their middle age and the old ones had the final say in every issue. However, financial independence and world knowledge have made the young people able to take decisions wisely and independently, which, most of the time go against the orthodox ideologies of the older ones.
In total, it seems that the changes in young people are an unavoidable result of the changes in lifestyle and technology. To cope up with the changing surroundings, one needs to change oneself. What is needed is a better understanding between the old and young generations.
