Tourism Essay Advantages Disadvantages IELTS

Tourism is about travelling for recreation, leisure, religious, family or business purposes, usually for a limited duration. It is commonly associated with international travel, but may also refer to travel to another place within the same country. No doubt tourism is an important source of revenue in many countries, but its drawbacks cannot be overlooked.

It is not hidden fact that tourism has become synonymous with drugs. A country like India has become a hub of drugs and other unlawful activities. More often than not, the tourists are tempted to play with rules and regulations of the country they are visiting and indulge in hooliganism. Due to negligent attitude, the tourists end up getting entangled in life threatening situations. Besides, some local people who are desperate for their fifteen minutes of fame start tagging along with the tourists, stalking them, passing unpleasant remarks and all.

Among other things, illegal and unchecked construction at tourist spots can prove to be dangerous. Not only that, tourism also puts a lot of strain on local resources, causing inconvenience to the natives. The local culture also gets defiled by certain behaviour which is in complete contrast to the customs and code of conduct of a particular place. Last but not least, the local heritage and natural environment also bears the brunt.

Summing up, no doubt tourism is a means of earning huge foreign exchange and created a lot of employment opportunities, but it needs to be a little more organized and vigilant, keeping in view the comfort of both the locals and the tourists.
