Above statement shows why fake news is in trending because it is cheap to produce. In recent time the term FAKE NEWS has become a phenomenon. “Fake News is a term used to describe the phenomenon where media intentionally publish articles with incorrect information aimed at misleading the readers.
There can be many reasons for spreading the fake news as political reasons. But the most important reasons for spreading the fake news is to make money. The widespread dissemination of fake news had real impacts on political discourse and has steadily eroded the general public’s trust in media outlets across the political spectrum. The source of fake news is social media, television, websites. People get easily influenced by the fake news because these sources are part of daily life. So this became a social problem itself because it will mislead people with wrong information and it can spread anticommunity feelings, communal violence etc.
It is impossible to eliminate fake news stories entirely due to free speech rights and the Internet’s open publishing environment. That’s the reason why fake news on social media travels faster than the truth. So people should first analyze from which source the news has come out, if that source is not reliable then it can be fake news. So people should avoid that news by not forwarding to anyone. By this way, we can stop the spread of fake news to some extent.
False news can affect people’s beliefs and change their opinions right away. Therefore, it is very important to make the users of social media awareness about the negative consequences of fake news.
