Jawaharlal Nehru was born on 14 November 1889 at Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, India. His father’s name was Pt. Moti Lal Nehru, who was a famous lawyer. His mother’s name was Swaruprani. He was brought up like a prince. After his early education at home by an English tutor, he was sent to England for higher studies. He took his degree in Law from England and returned to India as a barrister. He become a lawyer just like his father.
Jawaharlal Nehru involved in the India’s freedom movement with Mahatma Gandhi. During the freedom movement, he sent to jail several times. His entire life was the history of India’s fight for independence. He served Congress for many years as General Secretary. He was a great political leader and to achieve Independence he started Five Years plan and constructed multipurpose projects. Finally, after the independence of India in 1947, he becomes the first Prime Minister of India.
Jawaharlal Nehru was a great lover of children, who loved him greatly and called him Chacha Nehru, It is due to his great love for children and children’s love for him, his birth on 14 November is celebrated as ‘Children’s Day’ in our country every year.
