Women Should Be Given Equal Chances To Work

Give a girl the right pair of shoes and she’ll conquer the world, said by Marilyn Monroe. I feel this quote explains itself that women are on par with men. There has been a lot of arguments doing rounds on being a feminism, equality, sexism and more. All women want are equal rights and chances to excel in their respective fields.

I totally agree with this. The world is changing so should we? Why some of us still think that women look good doing daily chores and taking care of the children? Many people think that the only degree a woman should have is to get married? Why do we keep on saying that a woman is settled only when she is married and has kids? This needs to stop.

Women are no more damsel in distress. They are self-sufficient and confident. Look at Mary Kom, an Olympic box hailing from Manipur. The only woman boxer to have won a medal in each one of the six world championships. Oprah Winfrey, American media proprietor who had a terrible childhood but still stood up and now everybody wants to talk to her and be like her. J.K. Rowling who is a global phenomenon. Rowling was a struggling author that considered herself a failure. With her perseverance and courage, she overcame these obstacles and became an international writer.

Not just these. There are innumerable examples and heroic stories like these. And on the contrary, I would like to add here that we always picture a woman in a kitchen and cooking. What about all the cookery shows where we see men as chefs?

So let’s not conclude which roles suit whom. We should support every individual in their respective endeavor.
